A Ribeye is a seriously powerful craft so it is essential to take professional instruction, to learn local rules and regulations and always wear a personal flotation device or life jacket when boating.
Here at Ribeye we put a real emphasis on training. Many of you will have boated before but we all must be aware that things can go wrong. It’s easier in your car when you can pull over onto the hard shoulder, but at sea, it can be very different. Getting your boat/crew prepared and doing some basic safety checks before you leave could save lives, possibly yours!
We strongly recommend that you do a training course. Contact your Ribeye Sales Centre to arrange a course with a Ribeye preferred training school. Or come to Ribeye’s Dartmouth HQ where you can take the course with our local sea school. At the same time you can take the opportunity to visit the HQ and see Ribeyes being rigged and assembled to the customer’s specifications.

The centre is run from the heart of Fowey, Cornwall and is fully recognized by the RYA for theory / practical powerboat and yachting courses. We are fortunate to operate all year round due to the warmer Cornish climate.
We enjoy a Ribeye 650 powered by a 4 stroke Yamaha 115HP outboard, a great combination! The centre also provides own boat training / familiarization and ladies only courses (female instructor). Our classrooms are equipped with the latest facilities including interactive whiteboards for theory based courses such as Radar, VHF and First Aid. We also have a pool within walking distance for sea survival courses, whilst Fowey harbour provides a beautiful backdrop with a variety of challenges.
Accommodation can be provided locally (we are happy to help) to make your power boating weekend a memorable short break.

Based in Dartmouth, Devon on the beautiful River Dart. This long, high sided, deep water river makes a perfect place to learn Power Boating at any time of year, from rough weather boat handling to close quarter manoeuvring. Our highly trained, friendly instructors will ensure you enjoy your course as well as improve your skill base. Day One of the Two day course is held at Manley Mere, a privately owned lake. Day Two is held at West Kirby, on the Dee Estuary, to complete the tidal and navigation requirements.

Southampton Water Activities Centre
SWAC is owned and managed by Southampton City Council. It is a purpose built water sports centre situated in the heart of Southampton's historic waterfront area adjacent to Ocean Village Marina. The Centre operates on the lower reaches of the River Itchen and Southampton Water, offering water sports and outdoor activities to schools, colleges, business, and the local community in general.
The Centre is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association for Dinghy Sailing, Powerboating, Windsurfing, Shorebased Navigation, Sail Cruising, First Aid, Sea Survival, VHF, Diesel Engine Maintenance and Instructor Training courses.
The centre offers powerboat courses to people from 8 years upward, using a selection of boats from our fleet of 16 powerboats that includes a Ribtec 455 and 655 and two Ribeye 785’s powered by single Yamaha 200hp and twin Yamaha 115hp’s. Courses on offer range from RYA Level 1 through Level 2, Intermediate and Advanced to Advanced Instructor level.
The centre also offers one-to-one training for individuals or small groups who may require a specific course or specialist training tailored to their particular needs. Skills covered range from mooring on particularly tricky berths to high speed navigation or the use of onboard electronic navigation equipment.
The centres location is within easy access to the Solent, making it an the ideal place to learn the skills to navigate and skipper a high speed powerboat with popular destinations such as Hamble, Cowes, Portsmouth, Beaulieu, Lymington and Yarmouth all within easy reach.

Absolute Aqua is owned and run by Candice Abbott, RYA Powerboat trainer, and is based in Poole Harbour, Dorset.
The school offers tuition for all standards and age ranges from complete novice to expert. Absolute Aqua operates a variety of craft including a Ribeye Playtime 600 powered by a Yamaha F100. The centre can run a course or private tuition for you & your family on any of the school boats or on your own boat.

Quay Marine Training Ltd. offers RYA and bespoke powerboat training, complemented by shorebased tuition in VHF Marine Radio, First Aid and navigation, in a dedicated classroom overlooking Topsham Quay, Exeter.
The RYA Powerboat training can be conducted on the picturesque Exe Estuary and beyond, using the centre’s Ribtec 585, or for courses up to Level Two, (or bespoke) on your own vessel in any suitable location.
